“This was one of the best weeks of my life,” Timothy wrote, “I have learned so much!” We ran quite a few rafting trips in May and June, but this was our first week-long trip in our first season; one we had looked forward to for a very long time. But more importantly, it was an amazing trip where we saw God work in many ways!
So how was Journey Quest’s first season?
Through your generous support and with the incredible team God brought together, we were able to serve about 1300 guests on single-day rafting trips, engaging them in uplifting conversations and proclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. In addition, about 115 guests came for extended trips 3 to 6 days long, and we saw great ministry impact. We started our rock-climbing program and guided our first peak climbs. Because of this year’s low water levels, we developed our inflatable kayaking trips a few years earlier than planned. We also partnered with Alpha Omega Institute for a very successful Creation discovery trip on the Green River. Kids and families were challenged to grow in their faith, and we know of two students who received Jesus Christ!
God is very good and we’re truly humbled by how He gave us such a great first season! Since we wrapped up in September I’ve been getting some much needed rest, settling into the new home I’ve recently purchased, visiting family, and working to get involved with the community around Cotopaxi. We have also spent quite a bit of time evaluating the summer, planning for 2013, and making improvements to our website. Groups are already booking, guides are applying to serve with us, and we’re working on a backpacking program to minister to young people in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains! I’m very excited and can’t wait to see what God will do in the our next season!
Below are a few snippets of some recent reports I’ve written to give you more of a picture of our first season:
Our First Week-Long Trip It was dark and stormy night, but this didn’t quench the spirits of the 34 students and youth leaders as they set up their tents and settled in for a good night’s sleep. The rain continued for most of the night, turning the rising waters the color of Chocolate milk… Continue Reading |

Steve’s New Home For many years I’ve had the desire to purchase a home, so I’ve been looking around the Cotopaxi area since last fall hoping to find a place reasonably close to Journey Quest’s boathouse. I looked at this house back in February, but it was still priced out of my reach at that time… Continue Reading |

A Beautiful Desolation At the end of August several of us had the privilege of guiding a trip on the Green River through Desolation & Gray Canyon. It was a special trip for me because it was in partnership with Alpha Omega Institute, the ministry my parents direct. Including guides it was a full trip with 30 people… Continue Reading |
I want to thank you again for your financial support and for your prayers! Please let me know how I can be praying for you. If you’re coming by the Cotopaxi area feel free to drop by!
